Hokkaido Ramen House - Coralville: Authentic Japanese Cuisine Awaits

Tried them for the first time. The food was very good, service was good. I have to go back another time. Was worth the 1hr and half drive to come here to eat!

I bought my daughter out her to compete and after training day she wanted sushi. This place was conveniently close to the arena. We opted it, and it had good amount of stars so we decided to try it. Glad we did. It was delicious. It tasted fresh and tasty. Definitely will be back before we leave. She had the black dragon and I had the California roll with a side of spicy mayo . The California roll was better here in Iowa than in California. Oh, she also had pork buns. She says they were very tasty.

A hidden gem in Iowa City! Good food. Great value. Lots of parking. The Ramen was really good. You can’t go wrong with anything cause this place knows how to handle their noodles. Even their rice bowls were a treat! They had kid’s ramen and katsu which my children loved. They also let us get a special order of Sea Urchin which made my dad really happy. Just wished that the restroom had brighter lights.

Got the spicy beef ramen, gyoza, and the pork buns. Everything was delicious, especially the spicy beef ramen. I will 100% be returning. The only negative would be that the ramen to broth ratio was pretty high. I would prefer to have half as many noodles and twice as much broth. I don’t really count it as a negative just more of a personal preference. It’s personally my favorite ramen place in town.

Ordered the Shoyu Ramen it was delicious, with a great portion size my friend ordered the spicy beef ramen . Value is good. The service was excellent. Our server was fast friendly and knowledgeable! No wait to be seated, comfortable atmosphere, family friendly dinning but great place to stop with friends for good food and a drink.

Excellent time at Hokkaido. As fellow lovers of all things anime and Japanese, we really enjoyed not only the menu but the aesthetic of this restaurant. Everything we thought was priced very reasonably and was super fresh, especially the gyoza. Our friend got the eel rice bowl and said it was delicious and tasted super fresh. The ramen broth was so flavorful and the noodles absorbed all the flavor. Very good marinated soft boiled eggs as well. So much food too! The milk tea was pretty good. Definitely could have had more flavor or soaked the tapioca pearls in something because they didn’t have any flavor. The soup dumplings we ordered were advertised as 8 pieces on the menu but we got 6. A small thing, but if you are planning to split this with more people it can be misleading. The Coralville roll was massive. We left super full and super satisfied. Service is a little slow. This did not bother us as it was apparent they took their time making our food come out hot, fresh, and played nicely. But something to consider if you are trying to be in and out quickly. Our party of four spent about an hour there.

One of the best Tonkatsu Ramen I've ever had! The Coralville roll was also delicious! Just the simple bowl of miso was good. Fast and friendly service. It was so good, I went twice during my two day stay.

I was in the area with my son and we were looking for a place for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. Both of us are always up for ramen, so had to try Hokkaido when we saw it. The food was awesome, server was attentive and quick, and it was a good portion of food. I had the Tom Yum and ordered it very spicy. It wasn't to hot, just the right amount of spice. I was surprised that it wasn't busier then it was considering how great the food was. If you like ramen, you have to at least give this place a try!
